Wireless Vibration and Temperature Monitoring from Turck Banner

27  October  2015

Building on its vast experience of sensor and control technology, Banner Engineering has launched the QM42VT1 vibration and temperature sensor, now available in the UK from Turck Banner Ltd.

Machine vibration is often caused by imbalanced, misaligned, loose, or worn parts. By monitoring machines for increases in vibration and temperature, problems can be detected before they become too severe and cause additional damage or result in unplanned downtime.

The Banner wireless vibration and temperature sensor measures RMS velocity, in millimetres per second or inches per second, and temperatures up to 80°C. Mounted as close as possible to the bearings, using a standard or magnetic bracket, the QM42VT1 monitors the machine’s health by detecting increases in vibration and temperature.

Banner’s tried and tested DX80 range provides the communication link as the sensor is designed to work with 1-wire serial radio devices, such as the Wireless Q45VT Node, the P6 Performance Node, and the MultiHop M-H6 radio. (1-Wire is a device communications bus system designed by Dallas Semiconductor Corp. that provides low-speed data, signaling, and power over a single signal). Vibration thresholds, based on the ISO 10816 standard are easily set. When a threshold has been exceeded, the wireless Node can provide local indication, send the signal to a central location, and send the vibration and temperature data to the Gateway for collection and trending.

QM42VT1 is manufactured in a robust zinc alloy housing and is suitable for a variety of machine applications including – motors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, blowers and fans. This latest product adds to Turck Banner’s vast range of sensing solutions and further endorses their position as a leading sensor supplier.
